Drive Thru

Hi everyone!♥

''What the fuck is up with this movie?''

Drive Thru: Horror gets Super Sized when Horny The Clown, the demonic mascot of "Hella-Burger," starts slashing Orange County teenagers with his meat cleaver from Hell.

What the fuck is up with this movie? The clown is not even scary, he looks too plastic and not creepy at all, especially his clothes. The music was terrible, the plot was awful and I really wanted to stop watching this movie and I wish I had, because it got worse every minute. I might have liked this better if I had been very young watching this for the first time, but I have nothing positive to say about this one. I think you can guess which grade this movie will get.

Torment

Hi everyone!♥

''This film was intense from the start to the finish''

Torment: Newlyweds Cory and Sarah Morgan take Cory's 7-year old son Liam up to the country for some much needed family time. When it appears as if Liam has run away, psychological suspense becomes straight-out horror, as Sarah and Cory must now confront a sadistic cult-like family who have been hiding in the house all along and have taken Liam for themselves.

I like home invasion movies, with the original Funny Games being one of my fav. Torment has characters that I cared about, with real issues that made it so sad when anything bad happened to them. This film was intense from the start to the finish, but the main issue that I had with this movie was the lenght. It is too short and adding another 20 minutes would have done great wonders for this film. I wanted the invasion to be longer and I wanted a lot more things explained. The nice thing about this one is that it sets up for a sequel and hopefully that one will be longer. One more thing that was cool about this film was the masks, they where creepy and original.

Leprechaun in the hood

Hi everyone!♥

''The kills were pretty boring''

Leprechaun in the hoodThe Leprechaun ends up in the inner city, Compton, CA. More comedy than horror fill this installment.

No it's time for the leprechaun to make a visit to the hood, but this is a visit that becomes boring and uncreative. The only funny thing about this movie was when the Lep did his rap at the very end, Lep in the hood! Besides that, there was not anything good about this movie. The kills were pretty boring and it seems that the leprechaun would win easily with the powers that he has. It is said that this is more comedy than horror, but I did not find this one particularly funny, mostly boring.

Leprechaun 4: In space

Hi everybody!♥

''The characters are not interesting and the movie is boring''

Leprechaun 4: In space: Our deadly leprechaun is in space to woo a beautiful princess who is impressed with his gold and desires to separate him from it.

This week I have been focusing on the latter Leprechaun Movies, as I have watched them on my way to work. First out this week was Leprechaun 4: In space and it was a dissapointing start to an already dissapointing franchise. When Jason Voorhees was in space, it was awesome and creative, when Leprechaun shows up in space, not so much. The characters are not interesting and the movie is boring, I really like the character of Leprechaun, but Everything else is awful. I love the Leprechaun's lines and the way he speaks, but not even the Deaths or gore scenes were interesting.

From beyond the grave

Hi everyone!

''These types of movies where very popular during the 70's and I can understand why''

From beyond the graveAnthology film from Amicus adapted from four short stories by R. Chetwynd-Hayes strung together about an antique dealer who owns a shop called Temptations Ltd. and the fate that befalls his customers who try to cheat him. Stories include "The Gate Crasher" with David Warner who frees an evil entity from an antique mirror, "An Act of Kindness" featuring Donald Pleasence, "The Elemental", and "The Door".

This movie consists of four different tales. These types of movies where very popular during the 70's and I can understand why, they bring some horror, without it being to gruesome and it also has a charm to it because of the cinematography and acting. Peter Cushing is always a safe chose when it comes to horrormovies. My favorite story was the first one and the third one, the others where okey but not as good. An evil mirror is always interesting and that is exactly what the first story provides. If you like short tales combined into one film, this one I do recommend.

Joy Ride 3

Hi everybody!

''The gore was nicely done, especially one scene involving a rotating propeller.''

Joy Ride 3: Rusty Nail is back on the road again looking to punish injustice at every turn - and this time it's with a group of hotheaded street racers on their way to the Road Rally 1000. As they drive through a desolate shortcut on the way to the race, an encounter with Rusty turns sour and soon he is tracking, teasing and torturing them until the end of the road.

I am a big fan of the first Roadkill aka Joy Ride movie, it was made in a clever way and buildt up a great suspense, which the two sequels to it just does not have. The characters were not likeable or developed as characters enough to make you care for them, so it did not matter to me what happened. The atmosphere and suspense from the first really was missing in this one. The gore was nicely done, especially one scene involving a rotating propeller. This movie lacks everything that made the first one so good.

Must have of the day: House by the cemetery Arrow bluray

Hi everyone!♥

Arrow edition of Lucio Fulci's House by the cemetery

Here is another awesome arrow edition and it is of Lucio Fulci's House by the cemetery. I have it on dvd, but 10 minutes of it is missing, because it suddenly ends too soon and I have always wanted another version of this film and I must have this arrow edition, since I am collecting them. This is not even that expensive, 11 Euro for this great edition and it is a must have by all horrorfans.

A little about books

Hi everyone!

I haven't really recommended any horror books which is a shame. I have always loved to read, but unfortunately I haven't had much time for it lately. A few weeks ago I bought a book by one og my favorite authors H.P Lovecraft and I am reading it now and loving it. So I really recommend any book by him. When I was younger I used to read everything by Stephen King, Pet Sematary was amongst my favorites of his, but I also adored his short horror stories, so clever and unique.

I will dig deeper into particular books by my favorite authors and write about them later. What are your favorite books and authors?

The Haunted world of El Superbeasto

Hi everyone!♥

''There is plenty of gore and funny moments''

The Haunted world of El Superbeasto: Based upon the comic from Rob Zombie, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto is Rob's new film in animation, following the adventures of El Super Beasto and his sexy sultry sidekick and sister, Suzi-X.

I first came across this film when I was watching a clip on youtube on films by Rob Zombie and I thought I had seen all of them, but this one had slipped my radar completely, so I had to watch it. There is plenty of gore and funny moments. The movie is not too dark and it could have had even more evil characters in it, but I understand that it might have led away from the main story. I enjoyed it and laughed several times throught the film.

Attack of the killer tomatoes

Hi everyone!♥

''The plot actually sounded a lot more fun and crazy than it was.''

Attack of the killer tomatoesA group of scientists band together to save the world from mutated tomatoes that KILL!

I saw the sequel before I saw this one, but this was even worse. Sure it is funny when the tomatoes are making noise and laughing, but apart from that, there was not much going on that was entertaining. The story was weak and some scenes just seemed randomly put together without any meaning at all. I wanted to like this movie and I thought that I would laugh more, but I got more and more bored as the movie continued. The plot actually sounded a lot more fun and crazy than it was.

The Sacrament

Hi everyone!

''Ti West's House of the Devil is such a great film''

The SacramentA fashion photographer is traveling to meet his sister at Eden Parish. Once there, his friends begin to film interviews with the Eden Parish inhabitants, all of whom speak of the commune in glowing terms. However, they soon discover that there is a sinister edge to the commune that belies the seemingly peaceful setting.

Ti West's House of the Devil is such a great film and I was looking forward to see more from him and yesterday I saw The Sacrament. It is shot like a documetary with hand held cameras, but the story was still interesting and the documentary style fitted the film. The movie was a bit predictable, but yet I wanted to keep watching it, because the acting was good and the characters were interesting. This was not as good as House of the Devil, but I still enjoyed it.

Moebius

Hi everyone!♥

''This movie does not have any dialogue, but it is not silent''

Moebius: A housewive gets really tired of her husband's love affair and their son can only stand and watch while his parents are arguing. One night the housewive gets so mad that she gets a knife and now she is planning her twisted revenge.

Finally saw Moebius yesterday and the first ten minutes of the film are really messed up in a good way and I was thinking, how are they going to top this? This movie does not have any dialogue, but it is not silent, but there is hardly any music either, but I think that it suits the movie perfectly. Because there was no dialogue, the characters had to emote there feelings through facial expressions and they did a really good job. It is pretty violent and does contain a decent amount of blood.

Savaged

Hi everyone!♥

''I am actually glad that they kept the rape so short and focused more on the revenge''

Savaged: Zoe is a deaf girl who is driving many hours to her boyfriend, whom she is planning to move in with. On the way she meets a few rednecks and her nightmare begins, she is raped, beaten and killed. An indian finds her and brings her back by putting an apache warrior's spirit in her body and now she can take her revenge.

When I read what Savaged was about I got the feeling that this could be a different movie in a rape/revenge genre and it was. Even though it works with the basics of this subgenre, it adds a new spin on it and makes it work really well, the new spin I am talking about is having the girl die and then bring her back by having an apache warriors spirit enter her body. I am actually glad that they kept the rape so short and focused more on the revenge and the revenge scenes were great. In one scene the girl has a tug of war with the intestines of her abuser and that worked so well.

The fact that the girl was deaf added a bit more feeling into her character and I cared about her. One scene made me shed a tear and I could not believe how powerful this film is. If you like indiehorror, you will like this one and I can not wait until I will have it in my collection.

Wolf Creek 2

Hi everyone!♥

''This is one of those films that takes an unexpected turn''

Wolf Creek 2: Two backpackers from Germany are hiking and set camp overnight, but are met by a man who says that they can not stay there because the police will fine them for camping in the wrong place. The man says he can drive them somewhere else and this man is Mick Taylor.

I was so excited to hear that a sequel would be filmed, because I really liked the first one. I think that the concept and story in the second one was good. This is one of those films that takes an unexpected turn and it worked. The environment is beautiful and perfect for this movie and the gore scenes were great. It is raw and very intense and I was sitting on needles throught the last 30 minutes of the film. I felt as isolated, hopeless and alone as the victims in this film, just like I did with the victims in the first one and what a creepy guy that Mick Taylor is, really well played.

Devil's Due

Hi everyone!♥

''It took too long until something happened''

Devil's Due: A newlywed couple have just been on their honeymoon and are now back home, but something strange has happened, the wife is pregrant even though she is on her pill. They decide to keep the baby, but the pregnancy is starting to get really weird and turning the expecting mother into the darkside.

The found footage genre has exploded over the last few years, but few movies have managed to really make it work and to find a way to be really creepy and scary, this is not one of them. It took too long until something happened and the things that happened before the ending were not scary or horrifying at all. The ending was okey and things finally happened, but not enough to get this movie a higher grade than 2.

Sadako 3D

Hi everyone!♥

''It could have been scary if it had been inovating and completely different''

Sadako 3D: Akane is a high school teacher that learns that a rumour is going around about a video that kills anyone who watches it and she thinks that one of her students was watching it and she now must find a way to save those around her and herself from the video.

The dark haired girl is back, scary right? No not scary at all anymore. It could have been scary if it had been inovating and completely different, but this felt more silly and not dark at all like the previous Ringu films and Sadako just does not scare me anymore. I am all for wanting to take up a popular concept and to make it matter again, but you really have to think outside the box. The story was okey, but the ending was bad and predictable and it did not draw me in at all. I have not seen Sadako 3D part 2 yet, but I will probably will, because you know, horror.

Pinocchio's Revenge

Hi everyone!♥

''Pinocchio was not even scary at all''

Pinocchio's Revenge: A female lawayer takes home a pinocchio doll from a case that she was working on and many believed that the doll was responsible for a father to kill his son. The lawyer's daughter takes a liking to the pinocchio doll, but mysterious accidents start to happen whenever the doll is around.

Well this movie was really slow and boring. Pinocchio was not even scary at all, but the pace was the biggest problem this film had. More should have happened to make it a bit more exciting and I think that Pinocchio should have been more intense and scary looking. This is a typical evil doll meets innocent child story, but done very poorly in comparison to other similar movies.
