The Woman in Black 2

Hi everyone!♥

Most horrormovies in the supernatural subgenre show too much, but this one showed too little

The Woman in Black 2: Angel of death: 40 years after the first haunting at Eel Marsh House, a group of children evacuated from WWII London arrive, awakening the house's darkest inhabitant.

The remake was okey, but this one was pretty boring and it did not felt creepy or spooky until the end. The Woman was not creepy at all and she was not shown as much as I would have liked to. Most horrormovies in the supernatural subgenre show too much, but this one showed too little. The Woman in black 1989 was pretty creepy and had a dark and eerie atmosphere throughout the film that this one lacked. I recommend you to watch the original.

Eat 2013

Hi everyone!♥

"The pace was great and it got better and better the more Novella ate"

Eat: Novella McClure is like most struggling actresses in Los Angeles: she's in her early 30s, her fake name sounded cooler ten years ago, and she hasn't landed a role in three years. To top it all off, she's developed a disturbing habit of eating her own flesh. Novella desperately tries to hide her strange condition from her motherly landlord, Eesha, and somewhat psychopathic best friend, Candice, but her body and mind continue to deteriorate in the depressing world of failed auditions and sketchy night clubs. Can a romantic relationship with her psychiatrist prevent her from self destruction? Or will her fatal habit continue to eat away at her?

This movie was very beautiful and sad, the mixture of lighting against all blood was perfect. The gore scenes are intense and the character of Novella really drew me into the film. The title Eat is great, we eat to survive, Novella eats herself to survive through all the angst and the depression she is feeling, but the eating is making her more depressed in a way and I as a viewer felt her struggle and was emotionally comitted to this film. The pace was great and it got better and better the more Novella ate. If you liked the French film In my skin (Dans ma pea) then you will like this one aswell.

O'hellige jul! (Christmas Cruelty)

Hi everyone!♥

"The realistic way that the movie is filmed combined with the strong gore scenes made this movie really powerful."

O'Hellige Jul: We follow a serial killer and his victims as they all prepare for Christmas in their own ways. This year it doesn't matter if you have been naughty or nice, Santa is coming to town no matter what, and he knows where you live.

This movie starts of quite shockingly and really grabs the viewers attention. It is a rarity to find a movie that still can disturb me when I have seen so many horrormovies with so much gore and over the top scenes, but O'hellige jul did its job well. The realistic way that the movie is filmed combined with the strong gore scenes made this movie really powerful. With a low budget, but a good script, good use of gore and decent actors, this movie stands out among other horrormovies that are made today and it has a depressing feeling from the beginning to the end.

After I had watched it, I was left speechless and did not really know how to feel and that is how a movie is supposed to make me feel, just like Saló, 120 days of Sodom did. I felt so sad for every character that had to go through something horrible and if you crave something disturbing and depressing, I recommend you to watch O'hellige Jul as soon as possible.

What we do in the shadows

Hi everyone!♥

''probably one of the best vamper movies to this date.''

What we do in the Shadows: Follow the lives of Viago (Taika Waititi), Deacon (Jonathan Brugh), and Vladislav (Jemaine Clement) - three flatmates who are just trying to get by and overcome life's obstacles-like being immortal vampires who must feast on human blood. Hundreds of years old, the vampires are finding that beyond sunlight catastrophes, hitting the main artery, and not being able to get a sense of their wardrobe without a reflection-modern society has them struggling with the mundane like paying rent, keeping up with the chore wheel, trying to get into nightclubs, and overcoming flatmate conflicts.

This is one of the funniest movies that I have ever seen, period. The characters were well written and all the situations were very funny. This mockumentary stands out in the vampiregenre. It was smart to have vampires from different times in history and one of them reminded me of Count Orlock from Nosferatu 1922. The humour in this movie is my kind of humour and I had such a blast watching this film and I recommend you to watch it as soon as possible, probably one of the best vampire movies to this date.

A girl walks home alone at night

Hi everyone!♥

''The girl was a cool character and they had used clothing, lighting composition really well''

A girl walks home alone at night; In the Iranian ghost-town Bad City, a place that reeks of death and loneliness, the townspeople are unaware they are being stalked by a lonesome vampire.

A horrormovie from Iran in black and white, sound really cool yeah? This movie was more funny than I thought it would be and not as scary as I thought. There were some gorgeous cinematography and the music was really good, but the key thing was missing and that was a really good plot, there was no story. The girl was a cool character and they had used clothing, lighting composition really well, but some scenes were too long, but still I thought it was pretty cool and humorous, which I enjoyed. This movie is playing at Stockholm Filmfestival, go see it.

Birth of the living dead

Hi everyone!♥

''It was interesting and taught me a lot that I did not know''

Birth of the living dead: A documentary that shows how George A. Romero gathered an unlikely team of Pittsburghers to shoot his seminal film: Night of the Living Dead.

I love the earlier films of George A Romero with Dawn of the dead 1978 being my favorite one. I saw Night of the living dead 1968 when I was 13 years old and fell in love with it, so I was excited about this documentary. It was interesting and taught me a lot that I did not know. It was a bit short because I wanted to know more. It was great to know how little money and experience the crew had when they made this movie, because it shows that with heart and hard work, you can achieve anything and he basically created the zombie genre after making Night of the living dead.

Strange colour of your body's tears

Hi everyone!♥

''The biggest problem with this movie is that it is too confusing''

Strange colours of your body's tears: Following the disappearance of his wife, a man finds himself on a dark and twisted trail of discovery through the labyrinthine halls of his apartment building. Led on a wild goose chase by cryptic messages from his mysterious neighbours, he becomes entangled in a hellish nightmare as he unlocks their strange fantasies of sensuality and bloodshed. The Strange Colour Of Your Body's Tears is a visually dazzling experience from the creators of Amer that takes you on a journey into mystery and blood soaked terror that you will never forget.

This was the last movie of the horrornight and it was the strangest one. I love giallo movies and was very excited for this one, especially with a cool name like this one has. The biggest problem with this movie is that it is too confusing, the editing jumps back and forth and I had trobule following the story. The colours were beautiful and the sound and songs were amazing, but everything was too confusing. The use of shaving blades were plenty and the use of black and white stop motion was clever, but the story did not speak to me at all.

Ouija

Hi everyone!♥

''Lin Shaye was great in this movie as she always is''

Ouija: A group of friends must confront their most terrifying fears when they awaken the dark powers of an ancient spirit board.

Ouija is a movie filled with cliches and when you expect a ghost, you get a ghost. There were some nice and creepy moments, but they were ruined by the obviousness of what was going to happen. The story was expected and there were some things that did not add up. The movies Witchboard from 1986, also deals with the subject of the Ouija board, but is way more creepy and scary than this movie, so I recommend Witchboard instead. Lin Shaye was great in this movie as she always is, so she made the film a little bit better, but still not enough to give it a three.

Starry Eyes

Hi everyone!♥

''This movie takes a normal young woman and turns her into something completely different.''

Starry Eyes: A hopeful young starlet uncovers the ominous origins of the Hollywood elite and enters into a deadly agreement in exchange for fame and fortune.

What makes Starry Eyes good is that it is very relatable. We have a struggling actress, that really wants to get her breakthrough role, while trying to make a living by being a waitress at taiter tots. This movie takes a normal young woman and turns her into something completely different. The last thirty minutes was incredible and filled with blood and gore. Many people can become desperate and do things they would never imagine doing, just to get that breakthrough. I like movies that suddenly goes crazy, which Starry Eyes does.

Among the living

Hi everyone!♥

''The use of the clown mask was creepy and well placed.''

Among the living: Three kids skip school in order to explore an abandoned film studio lot where they catch site of a woman being dragged across the lot by a masked man.

I have been waiting for another gore movie from France, since Livide. I was anticipating buckets of gore and blood, but I did not get the amount that I had expected, which was a bit dissapointing. Gore is not everything, but they cut away from many good opportunities where the gore was needed in Among the living. The story was good, but not as intense as Inside, Frontiers or Martyrs. The use of the clown mask was creepy and well placed. One scene was quite gruesome because it had many different elements of torture and it was a pretty long scene if my memory serves me correct. The ending was expected, but I still enjoyed Among the living and the four is close, but I will settle with a three for now.

Let us prey

Hi everyone!♥

''I felt that the script could have been worked on a bit more''

Let us prey: Held in a remote police station, a mysterious stranger takes over the minds and souls of everyone inside.

This is also a movie that takes place over the course of one night, and what an intense night it is. I felt that the script could have been worked on a bit more, because this movie does not stand out enough. Sure the last 20 minutes are great, really bloody and fast paced, but I just wanted something different before that. Because Let us prey is not long, it never gets boring with all the deaths, background stories and gore, but it was still missing something. With that said, it is still worth a watch.

Miss Zombie

Hi everyone!♥

''The perfect words to describe this movie is beautiful and sad.''

Miss Zombie: A rich family buys a zombie and they know that it can get dangerous, so they also get a gun with bullets just in case something goes wrong. The zombie is helping out with cleaning the backside of the house, but many people are mean and cruel to the zombie, will it go berserk?

This Japanese movie is entirely in black and white and that was a very smart move from the filmmakers. This is a very slow movie and quite different from other zombiemovies. Since the movie is very slow paced, the ending is pretty shocking and beautiful. The perfect words to describe this movie is beautiful and sad. The zombie in this movie is dead, but still human in many ways and that makes the events in Miss Zombie so much more tradig. We follow the zombie's daily routines with minor changes each day until tragedy happens and everything is turned upside down. This is one of the best zombie movies that I have ever seen.

Open Windows

Hi everyone!♥

''The story was interesting and buildt up in a good way with some twists and turns''

Open Windows: An actress named Jill refuses to have dinner with Nick, a fan who won a date with her in an Internet contest. In return, a guy named Chord, posing as Jill's campaign manager, helps Nick to follow in the footsteps of the actress from his own computer. Nick starts a game in which he realizes that he is only a puppet into the maniacal plans devised by Chord, to hunt down the star.

The story was interesting and buildt up in a good way with some twists and turns that I did not expect. I really enjoyed the movie until the ending, when it tried to get to smart and have a clever twist. The characters in this movie communicates mainly through the use of chats through the computer, so if you know that you do not like that kind of setup, you will not have the patience to sit through this entire movie. This movie kept me interested and Elijah Wood did a really good job, playing the maincharacter.

Faust 2.0

Hi everyone!♥

''It is fun though to see a horrormovie takle the subject of our addiction to technology''

Faust 2.0: Softwares and apps are daily INSTALLED based on agreements we scroll past and accept. But what exactly do we accept? In Faust 2.0 we meet five individuals who unknowingly enters into a pact with unknown forces and whose lives are brought to a brutal turn when they use the mystical applications to achieve what they want - but instead get what they deserve. As the applications spread the pieces fall into place and a digital pandemic takes shape.

It was fun to see a Swedish speaking horrorfilm at the festival. Faust 2.0 consists of five short stories and usually some are better than others in these kind of movies. I really liked the fourth, third and the second story. The fourth one was really funny and different. The fifth and first one did not interest me as much as the others and that is why I am giving Fuast 2.0 a three out of five. It is fun though to see a horrormovie takle the subject of our addiction to technology and the consequenses that can cause. There were some nice gore effects in these stories, so I liked that. Faust 2.0 will be in theaters today, so I hope that you will go to a cinema to check it out, have a few laughs and watch some horror stories with gore in them.

Der Samurai

Hi everyone!♥

''The final scene was probably my favorite scene in the entire film''

Der Samurai: A wolf strives through the woods around an isolated German village. Jakob the young local police officer is onto him, but scents something more in the darkness. What he finds is a man, it seems, wild eyed, of wiry build, in a dress. He carries a katana, a Samurai sword. When the Samurai invites Jakob to follow him on his crusade towards the village, it becomes Jakob's mission to pursue the lunatic to end this wanton destruction. At the end of the night Jakob has experienced too much, is too far from whom he once was. Something hidden has been unleashed to meet the first rays of daylight.

This German movie about a man in a dress, going berserk with a samurai sword, is really different. The story took unexpected turns and was very interesting. This movie was not as bloody as I had expected it to be, but the story was great and intense, since I did not know what the samurai would do next. The final scene was probably my favorite scene in the entire film, because of the music and the craziness of the maincharacter. The entire movie focuses on events that occurs throughout one night and it is very exciting. It is too bad that we did not get to know the samurai character more, but that character was still interesting and the atmosphere of Der Samurai was creepy all the way through.

Tusk

Hi everyone!♥

''Tusk is build up in a very clever and beautiful way, that balances dark humour with horror perfectly.''

Tusk: When podcaster Wallace Bryton goes missing in the backwoods of Manitoba while interviewing a mysterious seafarer named Howard Howe, his best friend Teddy and girlfriend Allison team with an ex-cop to look for him.

Another different movie in the surgical subgenre, where a human being is forced to transform, against her or his will, with the help of surgical operations into something completely different. Tusk is build up in a very clever and beautiful way, that balances dark humour with horror perfectly. The dialogue was very interesting between Wallace and Harold and the characters in Tusk were well written, my favorite character was probably the ex-cop, he was hilarious. The effects were great and the showing of the final product was both funny and gruesome at the sime time. I want to see this movie again and I will probably watch this at least once every year, just like I do with the Human Centipede movies. Kevin Smith, please make similar movies like this one in the future, sincerely, a big fan.

Monsters of film festival - My thoughts

Hi everyone!♥

''I really felt that this is my world and that I belong here.''

These last five days have been some of the best ones this year by far. Stockholm had a film festival called Monsters of film festival which focused on horror and sci-fi. This was my second year attending this festival and I did not expect to have this much fun, I did not even know that it was possible to feel this good by just watching horrormovies among other horrorlovers. I knew that I wanted to watch as many movies as I could, so I had saved up some money for it and I ended up buying tickets for 14 films, I wanted to see more, but some movies were playing the same time, so I will have to see them some other time.

The first film that opened the festival was Tusk by Kevin Smith. I took my mom and my friend David to see it and when we entered, we were given goodiebags by SubDvd which contained a movie, buttons, booklets and other cool stuff. I had my big bag of popcorn and was ready to begin this festival by watching Tusk. After Tusk we all went to a party for the festivalfolks and I bought some ciders to drink and later on there was a horrorquiz, in which me, David and my mom won second place. We were awarded with 4 actionfilms on bluray, so this evening was great and I felt that the people behind the festival did an amazing job by organising this the way it was supposed to be. The next few days were filled with really high quality movies, great friends, awesome buys for my collection and I met some new people that seem really nice and genuine, I really felt that this is my world and that I belong here.

Highlights of the festival films

The best movies for me were, Tusk, Der Samurai, Miss Zombie, The Scribbler and What we do in the shadows. I highly recommend you to see them as soon as possible, because they all bring something different to the genre and puts their own spin on it. New horror can be really good and these films showed me why. I can not say that there where many bad films, because the picks for this year's festival was great, nearly every movie made me interested and entertained. Strange Colour of your body's tears was a bit too confusing for me and even though I love Giallo films, that one did not speak to me as it should have, but is was still beautiful for the eyes and ears.

I attended a workshop which you could and I learned how to make bodyparts from silicone and how to properly make wounds and what materials are best, so me and my mom are going to make some awesome props for upcoming horrorprojects, because it was a lot of fun. The last film of the festival was What we do in the shadows and the festival provided beer and chips for us, so that was really nice. I could have gone to an afterparty, but I was really tired and just wanted to go home, relax, watch another movie on sfanytime and just think about what a success this festival was. The theathers were packed with people and many movies were sold out, so there is a huge interest in Sweden about horrormovies and that gives me great hope for the future. I felt that this festival was arranged by people that love this genre and want us to be able to view the films that they love. I felt the warmth and love everyday of this festival.

Jeepers Creepers 2

Hi everyone!♥

''I Think that the story about the Creeper is very interesting''

Jeepers Creepers 2: Set a few days after the original, a championship basketball team's bus is attacked by The Creeper, the winged, flesh-eating terror, on the last day of his 23-day feeding frenzy.

I have re-watched Jeepers Creepers 2 and it was not as bad as I remembered it. The look of the Creeper is very cool and all the different changes that happens to his face and body was nicely done. The kids were pretty stupid, but that did not really bother me so much, because I was nevr bored while watching this Movie and some scenes were well done, like that scene where the Creeper gets a long pipe through his eye and he is trying to take it out. I Think that the story about the Creeper is very interesting and I hope that the third one will be made soon.

Crystal Lake memories: The complete history of Friday the 13th

Hi everyone!♥

''I learned so much new stuff about the movies''

Crystal Lake memories, The complete history of Friday the 13th: Inspired by the critically-acclaimed book, Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th takes viewers behind the mask on an epic journey into the making of the landmark horror franchise-from its humble beginnings in 1980 at a New Jersey summer camp to the blockbuster release of its 2009 "reboot." Combining hundreds of rare and never-before-seen photographs, film clips, outtakes, archival documents, conceptual art and behind-the-scenes footage, and featuring interviews with more than 150 cast and crew members spanning all twelve films and the television series, Crystal Lake Memories is the ultimate tribute to one of horror's most iconic and enduring franchises.

Yesterday I finished watching Crystal Lake memories and I loved it. I even thought that it was too short, it could have been longer because I enjoyed every minute of it. They talked about every movie from the series and most of the actors that were in the movies, were in this documentary, talking proudly about their roles. They talked a lot about how they made every wound and gory scene and that was awesome. It is a great documentary and I can not wait until I will have it in my collection. The time went by really fast and every fan of this series should see this documentary. I learned so much new stuff about the movies and I wanted to know more.

Tulpa 2012

Hi everyone!♥

''There were some pretty brutal moments which reminded me of the films of the great Dario Argento''

Tulpa: Lisa Boeri is a successful businesswoman obsessed with her career on day, at night she is visiting a private nightclub, Tulpa, a club where all your sickest and most erotic fantasies come true.

This felt like a giallo film, except the story was not as good I as I had hoped. There were some pretty brutal moments which reminded me of the films of the great Dario Argento, escpecially Opera, Mothers of tears and Tenebrea. The red lighning that was present in many scenes was a very nice touch, but I would have liked a more shocking ending and more character development. Gialloseemes to be a subgenre which is very difficult to get right nowadays. Tulpa came close, but a few bits were missing. If the story had been more powerful, some of the kills would become nasty classics, like the ratcage.
