Yesterday we had nice weather in Sweden for about an hour and I am glad that I got of work earlier to catch some sun.
The Raid 2: Berandal
''One thing that was a bit tricky, was following the story''
The Raid 2: Only a short time after the first raid, Rama goes undercover with the thugs of Jakarta and plans to bring down the syndicate and uncover the corruption within his police force.
The fightingscenes in this movie are amazing, especielly the prison mud fighting scene. The choreography was incredible and all the little details that they used in every fightscene were smart and refreshing. One thing that was a bit tricky, was following the story and understanding everything, or maybe I was not focused enough, but some things were not explained or maybe they were explained in the first movie and I simply do not remember. The movie was also long, but the cinematography was beautiful and the sound was great.
''There were some pretty brutal moments which reminded me of the films of the great Dario Argento''
Tulpa: Lisa Boeri is a successful businesswoman obsessed with her career on day, at night she is visiting a private nightclub, Tulpa, a club where all your sickest and most erotic fantasies come true.
This felt like a giallo film, except the story was not as good I as I had hoped. There were some pretty brutal moments which reminded me of the films of the great Dario Argento, escpecially Opera, Mothers of tears and Tenebrea. The red lighning that was present in many scenes was a very nice touch, but I would have liked a more shocking ending and more character development. Gialloseemes to be a subgenre which is very difficult to get right nowadays. Tulpa came close, but a few bits were missing. If the story had been more powerful, some of the kills would become nasty classics, like the ratcage.
22 Jump Street
''This one was so much better than the first one''
22 jump street: After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt and Jenko when they go deep undercover at a local college.
Is it just me or are the comedies getting funnier this year? The ones that I have seen in the cinema this year have not dissapointed me and I have laughed almost all the way throughout the films and 22 Jump Street was no exception to that. It had funny moments all the time and some scenes were genius and the ending was hilarious. This one was so much better than the first one and Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum make a great team. The ''ending-ending'' was simply the best!
''What the fuck is up with this movie?''
Drive Thru: Horror gets Super Sized when Horny The Clown, the demonic mascot of "Hella-Burger," starts slashing Orange County teenagers with his meat cleaver from Hell.
What the fuck is up with this movie? The clown is not even scary, he looks too plastic and not creepy at all, especially his clothes. The music was terrible, the plot was awful and I really wanted to stop watching this movie and I wish I had, because it got worse every minute. I might have liked this better if I had been very young watching this for the first time, but I have nothing positive to say about this one. I think you can guess which grade this movie will get.
I was just at Hemmakväll and bought some movies and some candy.
''This film was intense from the start to the finish''
Torment: Newlyweds Cory and Sarah Morgan take Cory's 7-year old son Liam up to the country for some much needed family time. When it appears as if Liam has run away, psychological suspense becomes straight-out horror, as Sarah and Cory must now confront a sadistic cult-like family who have been hiding in the house all along and have taken Liam for themselves.
I like home invasion movies, with the original Funny Games being one of my fav. Torment has characters that I cared about, with real issues that made it so sad when anything bad happened to them. This film was intense from the start to the finish, but the main issue that I had with this movie was the lenght. It is too short and adding another 20 minutes would have done great wonders for this film. I wanted the invasion to be longer and I wanted a lot more things explained. The nice thing about this one is that it sets up for a sequel and hopefully that one will be longer. One more thing that was cool about this film was the masks, they where creepy and original.
Monsters of film festival
I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS FESTIVAL
The news about when the next Monsters of film festival has finally come and the festival will take place between the 8th and 12th of october. I am really looking forward to it and hoping to watch as many movies as possible. The poster looks incredible and I try to image what horror movies they will be showing, maybe Eli Roth's The Green Inferno? This festival is held in Stockholm and I am so glad that we finally have a festival dedicated to horror movies. You should check out there facebookpage, just type in Monsters of film and you can visit their website right here.
I had a really great time this sunday, waking up with my love, watching UFC, eating at O'learys and such.
Leprechaun in the hood
''The kills were pretty boring''
Leprechaun in the hood: The Leprechaun ends up in the inner city, Compton, CA. More comedy than horror fill this installment.
No it's time for the leprechaun to make a visit to the hood, but this is a visit that becomes boring and uncreative. The only funny thing about this movie was when the Lep did his rap at the very end, Lep in the hood! Besides that, there was not anything good about this movie. The kills were pretty boring and it seems that the leprechaun would win easily with the powers that he has. It is said that this is more comedy than horror, but I did not find this one particularly funny, mostly boring.
Preview of 22 Jump street!
Tomorrow I am going to the preview of 22 Jump street in Stockholm. I hope I can leave work a little bit earlier so that I can make it in time to see the film.
More pics from filming!
I have now been an extra in one movie that will be in the cinema and one commercial which will be aired on tv. I liked it a lot and I am going to apply for more jobs as an extra and hope to get a few more jobs this summer. Here are some more pictures from the filmjobs that I have done.
Leprechaun 4: In space
''The characters are not interesting and the movie is boring''
Leprechaun 4: In space: Our deadly leprechaun is in space to woo a beautiful princess who is impressed with his gold and desires to separate him from it.
This week I have been focusing on the latter Leprechaun Movies, as I have watched them on my way to work. First out this week was Leprechaun 4: In space and it was a dissapointing start to an already dissapointing franchise. When Jason Voorhees was in space, it was awesome and creative, when Leprechaun shows up in space, not so much. The characters are not interesting and the movie is boring, I really like the character of Leprechaun, but Everything else is awful. I love the Leprechaun's lines and the way he speaks, but not even the Deaths or gore scenes were interesting.
Filming in Norrtälje
Yesterday was a looooooong day. We were filming from 16 until 23.30. I was at the location 14.20 and the stylist decided what I would wear. Then we had to wait for everyone to get ready and for the team to st up everything. I was in two scenes and we took a lot of takes for each shot. Posting some pics of the environment in Norrtälje.
Filming a commercial today
Right now I am sitting on a bus on my way to be an extra in a commercial that will be filmed today in Norrtälje. I will get paid and I think it will be a lot of fun. I will be watching Leprechaun 4 on the way their because this trip will take about 90 minutes.
Muay Thai all evening
Today I was at the club at 4.30 and began my routine of kettlebells, push-ups etc, then I hit som pads with my boyfriend and shadowboxed for a while. Then I did Muay Thai for 2 hours 30 mins, so today was intense. Here is a pic from hitting the pads today.
From Beyond i samlingen
I just got From Beyond on bluray and it looks awesome.
From beyond the grave
''These types of movies where very popular during the 70's and I can understand why''
From beyond the grave: Anthology film from Amicus adapted from four short stories by R. Chetwynd-Hayes strung together about an antique dealer who owns a shop called Temptations Ltd. and the fate that befalls his customers who try to cheat him. Stories include "The Gate Crasher" with David Warner who frees an evil entity from an antique mirror, "An Act of Kindness" featuring Donald Pleasence, "The Elemental", and "The Door".
This movie consists of four different tales. These types of movies where very popular during the 70's and I can understand why, they bring some horror, without it being to gruesome and it also has a charm to it because of the cinematography and acting. Peter Cushing is always a safe chose when it comes to horrormovies. My favorite story was the first one and the third one, the others where okey but not as good. An evil mirror is always interesting and that is exactly what the first story provides. If you like short tales combined into one film, this one I do recommend.
Tales from yesterday part 2
This saturday, we had a barbeque and I was the grillmaster. Natalia and Basia liked my food and we had a great evening together, the next day they went back to Poland.
I also tried to get som sun, but that was hard since it decided to hid behind clouds almost all day.
Everything was delicious! Maybe I should apply for Masterchef haha!
Suits: On the run from a drug deal gone bad, Mike Ross, a brilliant college-dropout, finds himself a job working with Harvey Specter, one of New York City's best lawyers.
I just saw the first episode of the series Suits, which Natalia recommended me to see. It was interesting and the dialogue was good. I am not sold yet, but maybe I will be after a few more episodes, because the first episode was good and had some interesting characters and situations that could create more drama and cases for the lawyers.
Joy Ride 3
''The gore was nicely done, especially one scene involving a rotating propeller.''
Joy Ride 3: Rusty Nail is back on the road again looking to punish injustice at every turn - and this time it's with a group of hotheaded street racers on their way to the Road Rally 1000. As they drive through a desolate shortcut on the way to the race, an encounter with Rusty turns sour and soon he is tracking, teasing and torturing them until the end of the road.
I am a big fan of the first Roadkill aka Joy Ride movie, it was made in a clever way and buildt up a great suspense, which the two sequels to it just does not have. The characters were not likeable or developed as characters enough to make you care for them, so it did not matter to me what happened. The atmosphere and suspense from the first really was missing in this one. The gore was nicely done, especially one scene involving a rotating propeller. This movie lacks everything that made the first one so good.
Tales from yesterday
My mom's friend and her daughter is visiting us from Poland, they have been here since friday and we visited Stockholm City on friday.
After a few drinks, things started to get strange.....
Me and Sofia talked a lot about upcoming movies that we are going to watch.
''There where some things that bothered me''
Maleficent: A vindictive fairy is driven to curse an infant princess only to realize the child may be the only one who can restore peace.
This movie is really beautifully shot and Angelina Jolie is perfect as Maleficent. There where some things that bothered me, the angle that they were going for was to bright and they wanted Maleficent to be good in this one, but I think that it would have worked better if she had stayed evil and cruel. I know that these kinds of films wants to show that there is good in everyone, but some people just have darkness and hate in them and it will never change. I did like the fact that they took some of the basic things from the Disney textbook and threw it away, similiar with Frozen.
submission/wrestling at Nexus
I was just at my MMAclub for the clubchampionship in submission/wrestling and Marcus became champion.

Must have of the day: The fantastic planet Masters of cinema
The Fantastic Planet (Masters of cinema edition)
This edition of The fantastic planet is beautiful and I have some of the editions of Masters of cinema and they are really great. This film is fantastic and I can't wait to have it in my collection.
Yesterday and today I have been working, so did not have any energy for blogging. Today is one of those heavier days and I just want to go do something, but I don't know what. I would like to see Edge of Tomorrow, but did not want to see it by myself (I can see movies in the cinema by myself, but tonight was not one of those times). My shoulder hurts and my body really needs some massage. I think I also need sleep, but I am not tired, even though I have not slept well these nights.
Must have of the day: Phenomena Arrow bluray
Phenomena Arrow bluray!
I have almost every film by Dario Argento in my collection, but I really want to have the Arrow edition of his films and this one has such a beautiful cover. The movie is great and my collection really wants this in it!
Going to the cinema today!
Must have of the day: House by the cemetery Arrow bluray
Arrow edition of Lucio Fulci's House by the cemetery
Here is another awesome arrow edition and it is of Lucio Fulci's House by the cemetery. I have it on dvd, but 10 minutes of it is missing, because it suddenly ends too soon and I have always wanted another version of this film and I must have this arrow edition, since I am collecting them. This is not even that expensive, 11 Euro for this great edition and it is a must have by all horrorfans.
